Internship Program

ICA Miami internships offer participants an opportunity to learn more about contemporary art and the scope of museum work during an exciting and critical moment of growth for the institution. Qualified candidates will experience a comprehensive overview of museum operations while focusing on one of the following areas: educational and exhibition programs. Interns will work closely with department staff to design independent projects using museum best practices. ICA Miami will also provide interns with opportunities to connect with ICA Miami staff, attend public programs, and participate in coordinated field trips.

Education

Open to undergraduate, graduate, and post-graduate candidates.

Our internship program offers participants an opportunity to work with our community partners during an exciting and critical moment of growth for the institution. Over a 10-week period, the students will experience hands-on work with our community partners and develop an extremely valuable, comprehensive project backed with recommendations and research. By project’s end, students will gain career-enhancing experience, have a broader understanding of the impact museum programs have on the community, and learn how to quantify data gathered from evaluations to develop high-quality, actionable reports to help the institution continue to engage underserved communities. Collections and Exhibitions

The Collections and Exhibitions intern will assist the ICA Miami Collections and Exhibitions team in the up-keeping the records on museum objects and works. The intern will gain valuable collections management experience by helping inventory the collection, developing provenance research skills, and learning to work with collections management database systems. Candidate should demonstrate experience with or interest in exhibition production, knowledge of art history, excellent verbal and written communication skills, excellent organizational skills, and an eye for detail. This internship is ideal for undergraduate students from the following majors or related disciplines: museum studies, history, art history, or a related discipline.

Digital Marketing

Open to undergraduate, graduate, and post-graduate candidates.

The Digital Marketing Intern will assist the museum’s External Affairs department with strengthening ICA Miami’s brand presence across multiple digital channels, including video, email, and various social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube. Candidates should demonstrate a basic understanding of social media, contemporary visual culture, emerging technologies and their strategic application; the ability to engage through original content and copy; and possess meticulous attention to detail whether writing, researching or reporting. The intern will also support staff with daily administrative and research operations. This internship is ideal for students from the following majors and related disciplines: Communications, Marketing, Advertising, Graphic Design, Public Relations, Art and Art History, Museum Studies, UI/UX and Design.
