Enrollment is now open for Knight Art + Research Center Fall 2023 Semester: Global Conceptual Art at Knight Foundation Art + Research Center!

As part of ICA-Miami’s survey exhibition of American artist Charles Gaines (Charles Gaines 1992-2022), a preeminent figure in conceptual art, this fall’s Art + Research Center VIRTUAL seminar series focuses on Global Conceptual Art from various geographies and points of origin. By beginning with the ways in which conceptual art critiques the institutionalization of art in museums and in market economies, this program will generate a series of critical dialogues on how these critiques vary across global contexts, taking into account local conditions and political stakes. Bringing together scholars of art and history who focus on various centers and beginnings of conceptual art as well as artist perspectives, this program will consider what a global study of conceptual art may offer, how various conceptual artists subvert institutional hegemonies and what ideas emerge from bringing together various political and historical moments in time.
