Culture Club Presents: Ichi-Go Ichi-E
Please join us on Saturday, January 11, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm, as ICA Miami’s Culture Club presents Ichi-Go Ichi-E.
The title of this event is based on an old Japanese phrase that roughly translates to, “Treasure the moment as it may never come again.”
We will gather in ICA Miami’s new second building, which has yet to be renovated, for a one-time creation of performance art. The performance will comprise four elements:
• Two previous unexhibited, newly acquired works by queer artists from ICA Miami’s Collection;
• A world-renowned queer dancer;
• A format-breaking queer musician.
Two performances will take place. As the art is unveiled for the first time to the audience and the performers, the dancer will create a dance, taking inspiration from the art. The musician will create a musical performance, also taking inspiration from the art. Both will react and create based on the other performer. This event will highlight the excitement that occurs when a performance is spontaneously created by queer artists.
