Spring Student Showcase 2025
We are thrilled to announce our first-ever program-wide student showcase opening Saturday, April 5, 2025! This year, ICA Miami presents a group show featuring the works of students in our Young Artists Initiative teen enrichment program and our Narratives outreach program. ICA Miami continues to promote creativity and provides young people with opportunities to showcase their talents. Combining the Young Artists Initiative and Narratives Outreach Program in one show highlights the diversity and strength of their creative expressions. Join us as we celebrate the hard work of our students with a series of talks, tours, and special presentations.
Narratives Outreach Program – Kanaval Unmasked
This year, students explored Haitian Kanaval and mask making as a cultural art form. The connection between mask-making and identity is powerful—students express themselves in ways that challenge conventional perceptions or reflect personal narratives. In this way, the project presents self-discovery, reflection, and understanding the masks we wear in our everyday lives.
Young Artists Initiative – Luminosity
Over the course of the year, YAI students explored the theme of light and its connection to perception, visibility, and the human experience. In this group exhibition that transcends medium, methodology, and concept, featured student artists consider the human condition along with personal identities and universal themes through luminosity.
A Student Talk by selected Young Artists Initiative students facilitated by Education Programs Manager Ariel Lynch will take place during the event, offering students the opportunity to discuss their creative processes and experiences in the program.
Young Artists Initiative (YAI) is the Institute of Contemporary Art, Miami’s selective youth arts enrichment program. YAI connects young artists to the museum’s collection and the local arts community through an immersive academic-year program which culminates in a group exhibition in the museum’s gallery. Participants critically engage with contemporary art practices as they develop and strengthen their own artistic practices.
