Climate and Culture Summer Intensive 2021

As part of the Knight Foundation Art + Research Center’s continued dialogue on climate and cultural production, the summer 2021 semester will consider the oceanic world’s temporal and historical underpinnings, foregrounding often marginalized ways of knowing. Inspired by the ocean as a site of history, the seminars draw our attention to understudied qualities–absence, trace, sound, and touch–and their bearing on the present. Developed with Florida’s ecological landscape and the threat of rising sea levels in mind, these seminars will take cues from scholarly and practice-based interventions, linking artistic practices with environmental and critical scholarly work.
