Summer Intensive 2022
The Knight Foundation Art + Research Center returns to in-person programming with a three-week-long Summer Intensive featuring seminars, performances, and artist lectures. The first week explores spirit possession with anthropologists Stefania Pandolfo and Michael Taussig from the perspective of Islamic cosmologies and aesthetics-as-cure, as well as the way in which rituals of the unknown, the dead, and the uncanny permeate the Global North. While the first week emphasizes the invisible in the arts, week two probes indigenous poetics of seeing as a practice of world-building with author Edgar Garcia. Finally, week three moves from sight to sound and takes a practice-based approach with artist Raven Chacon to think about the relationship between graphic scores and sound.
