A+RC Public Lecture by Klara Kemp-Welch: Thinking Conceptual Art in Eastern Europe and the USSR
This lecture assesses what is at stake in different interpretations of Conceptual Art in Eastern Europe and the USSR with a focus on changing approaches to the field in recent decades. Key debates considered will include the politics of: national, international and transnational frameworks; relations between official and unofficial cultural spheres; intersections between alternative art, identity politics and dissent; and decolonial approaches to the study of art from Eastern Europe and the USSR.
