Eve Laramée
ICA Miami welcomes installation artist and ecological artist Eve Laramée to ICA Seminars. Laramée will present Science Fiction or Fiction Science, envisioned as a participatory and interventionist seminar examining the correlations between visual art, performance art and the sciences. Through shifting consciousness and questioning authorship/authority, the aesthetics and ethics surrounding environmental and ecological issues—such as climate change, and radioactive waste—are explored in relation to contemporary art practice. Participants are encouraged to engage in art-and-science collaborations, ecological performance art events and social sculptures. The intended outcome is to create alternative strategies and thought-provoking ephemeral works addressing serious environmental problems. By sharing innovations, art and science collaborations can energize action to initiate positive social change and promote awareness of environmental and health issues by directly involving communities, extending ways in which cultures imagine, create and understand.
