About Abyss X

Hailing from Crete, interdisciplinary artist and aesthetic chameleon Abyss X demonstrates virtuosity in experimental cross-genre composition by crafting a unique melange of her homeland’s remarkable hymns and sultry folk club pandemonium. Emerging from an uncanny yet dominating sound palette, the singer-songwriter’s music also carries inspiration from world music, pop, jazz, techno, noise and trip hop, drenched in its own unique sensual vibration. Abyss X’s riveting voice boasts a 4-octave range, elegantly embosoming every track on her LP in nuanced ways. Her elaborate vocal manifestation juxtaposed with her fierce movement vocabulary, built from years of dancing professionally and performing live in theatre, compliment her captivating stage presence.

In June 2017 she launched the imprint SHXME, a not-for-profit initiative to support campaigns with a focus on social change. For its debut release in June 2017, SHXME partnered with Support.fm, a crowd-funding platform with an aim to support trans and gender nonconforming people facing various states of incarceration.

Abyss X holds a degree in Computer Science, a Masters in Performance from Central St Martins in London and she is also an alumni of the Music Business department at UCLA. She holds an impressive tour resume stacked with live performances and DJ sets at festivals and venues around the world.

Souls Departed

Marísabel Acero is Souls Departed, a Colombian DJ and self-taught music historian based in Miami. Acero is founder of Surface, an archive of music and ephemera centering on electro and associated genres in South Florida. Her interest in these genres were instilled at a young age by family members who were active participants in the burgeoning local rave scene.

Acero’s style blends techno, electro, and traditional synth work with EBM and dark wave to create mixes that are equal parts ominous and sleazy.
