Los Purifiers by Salvadoran artist Guadalupe Maravilla incorporates autobiographical storytelling, songs and choreographed rituals to create a new visual memory for the entangled genealogy of border-crossing stories. Maravilla will perform alongside two futuristic border crosser Coyotes, La Momia songstress, and several alien abductors. As part of the performance, a gong bath will activate headdresses created by the artist intended to cleanse phobias and blockages resulting from an accelerating political climate.

“Portals,” the first solo museum project for New York- and Richmond-based multidisciplinary artist Guadalupe Maravilla, is on view now at ICA Miami.
