In Conversation with Alex Gartenfeld and Gean Moreno
ICA Miami and SoHo Beach House invite ICA NEXT level members and above to a private conversation with Alex Gartenfeld (Deputy Director & Chief Curator) and Gean Moreno (Curator of Programs). Mr. Gartenfeld is co-curating The New Museum’s 2018 Triennial and Mr. Moreno sits on the advisory committee for The 2017 Whitney Biennale, opening March 17. Join us for a rare opportunity to hear an insider’s view on two of the most influential and highly-anticipated museum surveys in the world. Both curators will discuss the historical value of biennials and triennials and the predominant themes and pedagogy surrounding these consequential and venerable group exhibitions. A cocktail reception will follow the discussion.
In 2015, ICA Miami’s founding Deputy Director & Chief Curator, Alex Gartenfeld, was selected to co-curate the New Museum’s fourth Triennial exhibition in 2018 with Gary Carrion-Murayari, Kraus Family Curator at the New Museum. Gartenfeld is the first curator outside of the New Museum’s staff appointed to this role. The mission of the New Museum’s Triennial coincides with ICA Miami’s dedication to promoting continuous experimentation in contemporary art – especially the work of emerging and underrepresented artists – and advancing the public appreciation and understanding of the most innovative art of our time.
ICA NEXT members are immersed in today’s global art scene, and are provided with unique opportunities to experience an insider’s view of ICA Miami, network with fellow art enthusiasts, and engage in the museum’s program calendar in new and expanded ways. Ready to become a member? Join today!
