About Rosa Lowinger
Rosa Lowinger, Principal/ Senior Conservator of Rosa Lowinger and Associates, Inc. has over thirty years of experience as a conservator of modern and contemporary art. A fellow of the American Institute for Conservation of Historic and Artistic Works, she holds a M.A. in art history and conservation from New York University’s Institute of Fine Arts. Rosa has served as conservator of sculpture and objects for a wide variety of modern and contemporary collections and institutions, most notable among them the Broad Art Foundation/Museum in Los Angeles, the Contemporary Museum of Hawaii, as well as the Rubell Family Collection, CIFO, MOCA, ICA Miami, Bass Museum, Lowe and Frost Museums. A specialist in outdoor sculpture conservation, she has created the public art conservation programs for dozens of municipal public art agencies and is an ongoing consultant to the Getty Conservation Institute’s Modern Heritage Research Initiative. Rosa was awarded the 2008-2009 Booth Fellowship in Conservation at the American Academy in Rome where she began what has become an ongoing project to study the history of vandalism.
