ICA SPEAKS: Roe Ethridge will take place at Palm Court in partnership with the Miami Design District.

The Institute of Contemporary Art presents ICA SPEAKS, a series of lectures highlighting artists from the museum’s permanent collection. The inaugural program begins with a talk by world-renowned photographer Roe Ethridge, whose work over the last decade has radically altered the relationship between fashion and fine art photography. His work has been featured in the Whitney and Lyons Biennials, and is in permanent collections of leading museums worldwide. This past year, two significant works by Ethridge were gifted to the museum by Javier and Monica Mora. For his talk, Ethridge will discuss the role of women and gender in his work. ICA SPEAKS is made possible by the Lampert Family Foundation.

About Roe Ethridge

Roe Ethridge (b. 1969, Miami, Florida) is a conceptual photographer who combines editorial and fine art photography to create subversions of classical photography and explore new visual experiences. Drawing upon the descriptive power of photography and the ease with which it can be accessed, duplicated, and recombined, Ethridge orchestrates visual fugues in a constantly evolving visual sensibility that have spawned a myriad of copyists. His work has been shown extensively around the world, including MoMA PS1, New York (2000); Barbican Center, London (2001); the Carnegie Museum of Art (2002); Institute of Contemporary Art, Boston (2005); the Whitney Biennial (2008); Museum of Modern Art, New York (2010), and Les Recontres D’Arles, France (2011).
