Ryan Sullivan – Ryan Sullivan was born in 1983 in New York. His work has been exhibited internationally, including Kunstmuseum Bonn, Bonn, Germany; Sadie Coles HQ, London, UK; Palazzo delle Esposizioni, Rome, Italy; Hydra’s Workshop, Hydra, Greece; White Flag Projects, St. Louis, MI, Maccarone, New York, NY; and MoMA PS1, New York, NY. His work is held in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art, New York, NY; the Hammer Museum, Los Angeles, CA; and The University of Chicago, Chicago, IL. Sullivan graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design, Providence, RI in 2005.
Alex Gartenfeld – Alex Gartenfeld is the Deputy Director & Chief Curator at the Institute of Contemporary Art, Miami.
Dancing Foxes Press – Karen Kelly and Barbara Schröder are publishers and editors of Dancing Foxes Press, founded in 2012. Kelly is an editor and publisher based in Brooklyn. From 1989 to 2011, she directed the publication program and organized special programs at Dia Art Foundation, New York. Schröder is an art historian and editor based in Brooklyn. Previously, she served as editor for Dia Art Foundation, the Austrian Broadcast Company, and the Kunsthalle Vienna. Dancing Foxes Press is editing Ryan Sullivan’s forthcoming monograph with ICA Miami.

Ambiguities of composition and facture are just two of the paradoxes presented by the work of Ryan Sullivan. Complicating the “events” of viewership and production, Sullivan’s paintings signal a longer and more complicated life for the object.
