Join ICA Miami for an exhibition featuring new work from our community outreach program, ICA Narratives, on view during Family Day. This Spring, teaching artist Dani Acosta collaborated with students to design and construct pieces of body adornment, specifically for the head, torso, hands, and arms to demonstrate identity in the decoration of our bodies. Students were inspired by their favorite plants, animals, heroes, or their own spirituality, culture, and heritage to explore the theme of adornment as protection.

Narratives is a community arts program taught by Miami-based teaching artists with the goal of increasing self-esteem and critical thinking skills. The program utilizes the theme of identity as a platform for empowerment and self-expression through creative work. The objective is to provide participants with the tools and framework to think critically about themselves, their place in the world, and their ability in creative expression.
