Vivian Caccuri: Gallery Inquiry and Activity
Using artist Vivian Caccuri’s installation Mosquito Shrine II from ICA Miami’s collection as a starting point, Teaching Assistant Alyssa Panganiban guides students through the process of exploring narrative using symbolism to express an idea, a theme, event, or emotion.
Vivian Caccuri (b. 1986 in Sao Paulo, Brazil) is a conceptual artist who creates objects, installations and performs to rethink everyday experiences and traditional narratives. Often uses sound as a vehicle to experiment with sensory perception and issues related to history and social conditioning.
Alyssa Panganiban is the Education Program Coordinator at ICA Miami. Helping students tell their own stories, Alyssa manages ICA’s Narratives outreach program. Mental health advocate and devoted to the path of self-healing, she finds herself serving the community needs as a registered trauma-informed yoga teacher.
