That art and images are central to the construction of our perception and to our lives is crucial to Manuel Solano’s practice. In their painting, installation, and video, Solano (b. 1987, Ciudad Satélite, Mexico) explores issues of identity and its formation by drawing from their personal life, memories, and popular culture. Speaking to themes of (mis)recognition and identification, “I Don’t Wanna Wait For Our Lives To Be Over” at the Institute of Contemporary Art, Miami, marks the artist’s first solo museum exhibition in the United States.
