With more than double the exhibition space in its new permanent home, the Institute of Contemporary Art, Miami presents a bold inaugural program that reflects the museum’s commitment to championing new narratives in contemporary art and to providing a platform for the exchange of art and ideas.
Highlights of ICA Miami’s inaugural program include The Everywhere Studio, a thematic survey tracing the impact and influence of the artist’s studio from postwar to the present day. Artists include Pablo Picasso, Roy Lichtenstein, Bruce Nauman, Carolee Schneemann, Jason Rhoades, Martin Kippenberger, Elaine Sturtevant, Anna Oppermann, Tetsumi Kudo, and Andrea Zittel, among others. Focused solo exhibitions of work by Edward and Nancy Kienholz, Senga Nengudi, and Hélio Oiticica, on view in ICA Miami’s Ground Floor Galleries, respectively bring to light significant periods of each artist’s work. Robert Gober’s untitled series of photographs (1978–2000) and an untitled drain (1993–94) are on special view, as well as exhibitions of newly commissioned works by Chris Ofili, emerging Miami-based artist Tomm El-Saieh, and Charles Gaines. The museum’s outdoor sculpture garden features a significant sculpture by George Segal alongside large-scale installations and site-specific commissions by Allora & Calzadilla, Abigail DeVille, Pedro Reyes, and Miami-based artist Mark Handforth.
Admission to ICA Miami Opening Day is free of charge. Tickets must be reserved online in advance of your visit.
