Family Sundays at ICA Miami

Kittenberger, ICA Miami Cat-in-Residence, invites you to our Family Sundays Series, which welcomes children of all abilities to engage in contemporary art through ICA Miami’s Family Sundays Series welcomes children of all abilities to engage in contemporary art through a variety of activities and make connections with ICA’s artists and exhibitions. Each Sunday, we offer FREE, 1-hour workshops that will engage families in either storytelling, art-making, or movement.

No unattended children, parents/guardians are required to stay with their child. Reserved tickets are required, tickets are available until 11:45 am on the day of the workshop.

Join Krystal Millie Valdes in a musical storytime to learn more about the work of featured ICA artist Hervé Télémague. We will read books to discuss racism, compassion, mental health, and life in Haiti, Paris, and New York.

Looking at the works of Hervé Télémaque, Paola Katherine Rodriguez will be leading a movement class on respect and appreciation of diversity, in order to inspire a healthy dialogue on current societal issues such as racism and body-shaming.

What do social belonging and inclusion mean to you? Inspired by the artworks of Nina Chanel Abney, instructor Paola Katherine Rodriguez will be leading a movement class that will focus on fun poses that can be done with parent and child, two people, or in a group!

Prompted by Michel Majerus’s “Progressive Aesthetics” express yourself from within and transform how you feel into a large abstract painting. Participants will work fast and select colors based on how they feel.

Limited Palette Experience. Creating an abstract piece inspired by Hervé Télémaque’s work, ” Le Soutien-Gorge”, participants will think about their families and their own lived experiences using only the colors from that painting.

Celebrating Women’s History Month, join Krystal Millie Valdes in a musical storytime to further learn about the work of featured ICA artist, Nina Chanel. Inspired by her art and life, we will explore collage work, urban life, LGBTQ+ stories, and mental health through songs and storytelling.
